Emily Claire Hughes founded The 10K Email Club. She performed professionally as a singer, actor and dancer, moved into writing through a travel blog and freelance copywriting, and became marketing manager at a European fashion rental company before starting the club.
She runs it with a team of copywriters who edit members' newsletters.

A newsletter goes straight to the inboxes of people who asked for it, so a social platform's algorithm doesn't decide who sees it. That's why many small businesses treat their email list as a channel they own.
The numbers senders watch have shifted. Open rates used to be the headline figure until Apple introduced Mail Privacy Protection in September 2021, with iOS 15 and macOS Monterey. It loads email images through Apple's servers, so a message can register as opened whether or not anyone read it. Many newsletter writers now give more weight to clicks, replies and list growth.
That puts the focus on the writing: a clear purpose for each send, and copy that sounds like the person behind the business.
