ELEVATE Hub

HR practitioners who want to move from day to day HR work into strategic HR, with membership routes for HR advisors, independent HR consultants through ELEVATE Indies and organizations joining as a Community Partner.

Members bring live questions on employee relations, recruitment, performance and employment law, and work through them alongside other HR people rather than on their own.

Claire Cathcart founded ELEVATE Hub and runs it with a team who host the live program and build the courses and frameworks members work through.

The team brings in specialist hosts for sessions such as employment law updates and goal setting, and runs working group discussions on topics including capability frameworks.

Most HR professionals in the UK train through the CIPD, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Its qualifications run from Level 3, for people starting out, to Level 7 for senior practitioners. Much of the daily work is shaped by employment law and by Acas, the publicly funded advisory service whose Code of Practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures is taken into account by employment tribunals.

Strategic HR usually means taking part in business planning, as well as handling cases as they come in. The idea is often traced to Dave Ulrich's HR business partner model from the late 1990s. It is harder to practice in a small organization, where one person might answer a payroll question in the morning and plan a restructure in the afternoon, with no other HR colleague to talk it through with.

Beyond the community, ELEVATE puts on The ELEVATE Event, produces The HR Podcast and publishes a State of HR Report.

The Strategic HR Accelerator Course is available now, and The 5C's ELEVATE Hub Framework sets out the approach members follow. Feeling Lost collects workshops and clips for anyone rethinking where their HR career is heading.

Live sessions run regularly, including Member Check In calls, the HR Recruitment Clinic and ER Chat for employee relations questions.
