How to move your Facebook group to Heartbeat
Members, content and paid access, step by step.
Updated

A Facebook group has no member export with email addresses, so your members move by joining through a signup link you post in the group. Build the community first, so the people who click through find something worth staying for. Then announce it, pin it, and pause the group once your active members have joined.
Your best posts, guides and files come with you as documents or a course. If you already charge members through your own Stripe account, those subscriptions move too.
What moves
| What | How it moves |
|---|---|
| Members | They join through a signup link you post and pin in the group. |
| Guides, units and files | Pulse rebuilds them as documents or a course. |
| Rules and membership questions | Recreate them as your onboarding questions. |
| Posts and comments | Not imported. Repost the threads worth keeping. |
| Subscriptions on your own Stripe | Subscription importer, self-serve. Typically under 15 minutes. |
| Events | Recreate upcoming events in Heartbeat. |
Before you start
Step by step
Create your Heartbeat community
Start building, and leave your Facebook group running while you set up. If you charge members, or plan to, connect payments too. That sets up the Heartbeat Stripe account paying members move into.
Set up before anyone arrives
Create channels for the topics your group talks about most, write a welcome post, and set up onboarding questions based on your group rules and membership questions. Hand Pulse your group’s guides, files and best posts, and ask it to turn them into documents or a course. Upload videos or embed them (video embeds).
Create your signup link
Go to Settings > People > Sign Up Links and create the link your members will use. Attach a free access group, or an offer if they pay to join. Anyone who signs up through it lands in the right place.
Announce it in the group
Post the signup link in the group with a short note on why you’re moving and what members get. Pin it with Options > Pin to Featured so it stays at the top (Facebook’s guide). Ask your admins and most active members to join first, so the new community is busy when everyone else arrives. Post the link more than once over the following weeks.
If you already charge: move your paying members
Skip this if your group is free. If you charge through your own Stripe account, export subscriptions from Stripe (Subscriptions > Export), then run the subscription importer and choose Other.
- Platform and data. Go to Settings > Import Subscriptions and press + New Migration. Pick the platform you are leaving (or Other, and type its name), then upload your subscription CSV.
- Column mapping. Match the columns in your file to Heartbeat’s fields. Check the preview for duplicate entries.
- Offer mapping. Match each old product or price to a Heartbeat offer. If an offer doesn’t exist yet, Pulse can create it for you here.
- Customer copy. Copy your members’ saved payment details to your Heartbeat Stripe account. In the old Stripe account, go to Customers > Copy and paste the Heartbeat account ID the importer gives you, then accept the request in your Heartbeat Stripe dashboard. Copy only current subscribers or your whole customer list.
- Review and migrate. Check every member, offer and next billing date, then run the migration. Each member is billed the price you mapped them to, starting on the date they would have renewed.
The typical import takes under 15 minutes, from uploading your file to running the migration. Screenshots and the full walkthrough: Import and migrate existing Stripe subscriptions.
If you imported anyone: cancel the old subscriptions
The importer doesn’t touch your old platform, so cancel the original subscriptions yourself. It gives you a CSV of exactly which ones to cancel, and it flags anyone who renews in the next 72 hours so you can cancel those first. Then tick the box confirming you have canceled them. This is what stops anyone being charged twice.
Pause the group
When your active members have moved, pause the group rather than deleting it. Go to Options > Pause group, add an announcement pointing to Heartbeat, and choose whether to set a resume date. Nobody can post, comment or react while it’s paused, and members still see your announcement at the top (Facebook’s guide).

Can I import my Facebook group members?
Not directly. Facebook shows admins a list of member profiles, with no export of email addresses. Members move by joining through the signup link you post and pin in the group.
Should I delete the Facebook group?
No. Pause it instead. A paused group stays up with your announcement at the top, so late members can still find their way to Heartbeat, and you can resume it if you need to. Deleting is permanent.
Can I charge for the new community?
Yes. Heartbeat sells memberships, courses and events through offers, so you can keep a free tier for your group members and add paid ones on top.
How long does the move take?
Setting up takes as long as your content does. Members move over weeks, not a day: post the link more than once, and pause the group once most of your active members have joined.
Does Heartbeat charge for the migration?
No. The subscription importer and migration support are free on every plan. On the Scale plan, a dedicated onboarding rep runs the whole migration with you.
