People who carry responsibility for governance and compliance in CQC-regulated services, whether new to the role or experienced in it: Nominated Individuals, Registered Managers, Care Providers and Care Leaders.

Members want practical detail on the legal framework behind regulated activities: the Fundamental Standards, the CQC Registration Regulations and statutory notifications.

Danni Kisielewicz leads The Governance Hub, which was created by a former CQC Inspector with extensive leadership experience in adult social care to give care leaders practical governance support.

The team hosts Group Supervision and invites an expert each month to discuss their topic.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates health and adult social care in England. It began work in April 2009, taking over from three earlier bodies, and registers and inspects services from care homes and home care agencies to hospitals and GP practices.

The rules providers must meet are the Fundamental Standards, set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, which came into force in April 2015. When the provider is an organization rather than a person or a partnership, it must name a Nominated Individual: a director, manager or secretary responsible for supervising the management of its regulated activities. Most services also have a Registered Manager, registered with CQC in their own right, who runs the service day to day.

Providers must also send CQC statutory notifications without delay when certain events happen, such as a serious injury to someone using the service, an allegation of abuse or an incident reported to the police.
