EXPRESSIONS Online

Photographers who want to express the movement and moods of water in coastal landscapes, rivers, streams, lakes and waterfalls. Living near the ocean is not required.

Beginners are welcome, including people new to photography in general, and advanced equipment is not needed; many members work with basic gear and even iPhones. There is no minimum time commitment, so members take part as often as suits them, and the online courses are self-paced and always available.

Steven Koppel, owner of EXPRESSIONS Gallery on Cape Cod, leads EXPRESSIONS Online. He has led photography workshops and mentorship programs for nearly 10 years, has published three photography books and works as an instructor and speaker.

Kristen Anderson, Gallery Director and a professional coastal landscape photographer, co-leads the workshops and runs the educational programs. She specializes in abstract photography, often using camera movement to express water's beauty.

Self-paced courses and tutorials cover camera settings, field technique, composition and crafting images in Lightroom and Photoshop, and new content is added all the time. Live classes such as Image Crafting: A Deep Dive and the Demystifying Photoshop Webinar Series run over several sessions, with recordings and handouts kept in the community.

Monthly Live Forum Sessions and From VISION to IMAGE sessions run on Zoom, where members submit a RAW file and their crafted version and the group reviews both field and post-processing technique. Sessions are recorded for later viewing. Private image critiques and a forum for technique, equipment and field questions sit alongside the courses.
