7 Podia Alternatives (2026), Ranked by Fees and Fit

Seven platforms for creators outgrowing Podia's fees, email limits or community tools, with 2026 prices, a cost example and how to move your products.

7 Podia Alternatives (2026), Ranked by Fees and Fit

The cheapest Podia plan isn't always the cheapest way to run your business. What you really pay depends on your sales, how many email subscribers you have and what your members need from the platform.

This guide helps you decide whether to change your Podia plan or move to a Podia alternative.

Why people look for a Podia alternative

They need an ongoing free plan

Not everyone wants to pay before they make their first sale. Podia's free plan gave new creators a place to start without a monthly bill, and Podia removed it on October 14, 2024. Its pricing page now offers a 14-day free trial, and after that you pay.

In the r/edtech thread about Podia removing its free plan, the original poster asked for an affordable or free platform that could host videos and manage students. Plenty of new sellers are in the same spot: they want to start selling before they take on another monthly bill. Heartbeat starts with a 14-day free trial, no card required, so you can set up your community before you pay anything.

Sales fees and email capacity change the bill

The subscription is only part of the cost. On Mover, Podia takes 5% of every sale, so the fee grows with your revenue. Email is the other moving part: each plan includes a set number of email subscribers (100 on Mover, 500 on Shaker, 1,000 on Earthquaker), and a bigger list costs more.

You can add email capacity without changing plans, and Podia's own example puts Mover at $119 a month and Shaker at $169 a month with 10,000 subscribers. That's a lot to pay before your business has really started.

Their members need something different

Some creators need features Podia doesn't have. Podia has no mobile app, so members use the creator's website in a browser. A course might also need better-organised discussions, or a closer link between live sessions and lessons.

Podia has added community spaces, group chats and direct messages, so check what your members actually do before you decide the community is the problem.

How we compared them

We looked at five things:

Total cost: the plan, transaction fees and extras.

Course features: the tools for hosting and teaching a course.

Email marketing: how many subscribers are included, sending limits and automation.

Member experience: how members talk to each other, join discussions and take part in live sessions.

Migration: what it takes to move your courses, customer lists and content.

The cost examples assume a US business makes 50 one-time sales of $100 each on domestic cards, $5,000 a month in total, on monthly billing. At 2.9% plus $0.30, those payments cost $160 to process.

The alternatives

1. Heartbeat

Podia is a store with a community added to it. Heartbeat is built around the community: members talk in channels, meet at live events and take courses together, with memberships and checkout in the same place. It fits when the community is what people pay for, such as a membership, a group program or a cohort course where members learn from each other.

Every plan includes unlimited courses, events and documents, and a course can run evergreen or as a cohort. Members use the Heartbeat app on their phones, and the Scale plan adds your own branded app in the App Store and Google Play. Heartbeat has a 14-day free trial, with no card required to start.

2. Systeme.io

Systeme.io's free plan includes one course and 2,000 contacts, and the Startup plan is $17 a month for five courses and 5,000 contacts. Systeme.io charges no transaction fee of its own, though Stripe or PayPal still charge for processing. Compared with Podia, you keep email and sales funnels at a much lower platform cost.

Where it falls short: the free plan holds only one course, so it won't fit a full Podia catalog, and Systeme.io has no branded mobile app. Check both before you move.

3. Thinkific

Thinkific makes sense once your course catalog outgrows Podia's limits. Its Basic plan is $54 a month and includes unlimited courses, where Podia's Mover caps you at 50 products.

Other features have their own limits. Basic allows only five digital downloads, and completion certificates need the Start plan or above. If you take payments through your own Stripe account, Thinkific adds a 5% gateway fee on Basic. That fee doesn't apply on Thinkific Payments, though card processing still does. A branded mobile app is a $199 a month add-on.

4. LearnWorlds

LearnWorlds suits creators who want a real training setup more than a storefront. Starter is $29 a month plus $5 per paid enrollment. Pro Trainer is $99 a month with no enrollment fee, and adds learning paths, certificates and up to 20 SCORM uploads.

Email is the trade-off. Podia's email tools are built for newsletters and sequences. Pro Trainer includes 2,000 mass email credits a month, so compare that with how much you send before you count on it to replace Podia Email.

5. Skool

If you want students to show up and talk to each other, Skool might fit. It puts lessons, a discussion feed and live calls in one place, which Podia, built around selling products, doesn't do as well.

It isn't cheaper. Skool Pro and Podia Shaker both cost $99 a month, and Skool Pro charges 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction, processing included. Skool Hobby is $9 a month but charges 10% plus $0.30 per transaction, so it gets expensive quickly as sales grow.

6. Circle

Circle is for creators who want more control over how their community runs. Its Professional plan is $89 a month billed annually and includes courses, events, live rooms and member profiles. Live rooms let you run Q&A sessions or group coaching inside the community, without sending members to a separate meeting tool.

Professional also charges a 2% transaction fee on top of payment processing. Email Hub is a paid add-on, and a branded app needs Circle Plus, which is custom-priced. If you need a branded app, budget for the top plan.

7. Kajabi

Kajabi bundles email, funnels, a website, courses and a community in one product. It isn't the budget option: Basic is $179 a month for five products and 2,500 contacts, and payment processing is on top. Choose Kajabi if it replaces tools you already pay for separately. Basic's five-product limit won't hold a large Podia catalog, and the branded app is included only on Pro.

Which one to pick, by reason

If you need a free plan: Systeme.io. Its free plan includes one course and up to 2,000 contacts, so it works if your catalog and list fit inside those limits.

If fees are the problem: check your own upgrade first (Podia pricing runs each plan at different sales levels). At $5,000 in monthly sales, Mover costs $459 in our example: $49 for the plan, $250 in Podia fees and $160 in processing. Shaker comes to $259. Above $1,000 a month in sales, Shaker is the cheaper Podia plan, and the upgrade may fix the bill without a migration.

If your email list is growing: compare included subscribers, automation and sending limits on each platform at your real list size. That can change which one makes sense.

If you teach structured courses: Thinkific or LearnWorlds. Our best online course platforms guide compares more.

If your members want more community: Heartbeat, Skool or Circle.

If you want marketing tools under one roof: Kajabi.

And don't rule out staying with Podia. If it already does what you need, changing your plan or email allowance is easier than moving everything.

How to move off Podia

1. Export customers and access information

Start by exporting your audience and each product's customer list. The product export covers customers who are actively enrolled, not everyone who ever bought. Tags aren't included in the audience export, so record your segments and who has access to what separately.

2. Save sales records and course files

Your customer list isn't your sales history. Export your sales separately as invoice CSVs. Podia's files can only be downloaded one at a time, and videos come back as processed copies, so keep your original course files. Write down lesson order, pages, campaigns and access rules, and confirm what your new platform can import.

3. Sort out recurring billing before you cancel

Don't cancel before you've dealt with subscriptions. Podia stops active subscriptions and payment plans when your cancellation takes effect, and they can't be restarted afterward. Have a plan for those customers first.

4. Test access, tell customers, then cancel

Before closing your account, test purchases and access on the new platform, download your exports and tell customers what's changing. Once your Podia account is cancelled, you lose your dashboard and your customers lose access to what they bought.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to Podia?

Yes. Systeme.io has a free plan that doesn't expire. It includes one course, up to 2,000 contacts and three sales funnels, so check that it can hold your courses and contacts. Heartbeat starts with a 14-day free trial, no card required, so you can set up your community and try it before you pay.

Why did Podia remove its free plan?

Podia replaced its free plan with a 14-day free trial on October 14, 2024. It said the free plan wasn't pushing enough creators to launch and sell: free accounts made up less than 0.5% of the sales volume on the platform. If you want to try a platform before paying, Heartbeat has a 14-day free trial with no card required, and you can set up your community today.

Which Podia alternative has no transaction fee?

Systeme.io charges no transaction fee on any plan. Thinkific charges none if you use Thinkific Payments. Your payment processor still charges its own fee either way.

Is it cheaper to upgrade Podia or switch platforms?

On monthly billing, Mover and Shaker cost the same at $1,000 in monthly sales once you add Mover's 5% fee. Above that, Shaker is cheaper. Email capacity and the features you need still matter, so price both before you switch.

Which Podia alternative is better for a community?

Heartbeat if the community is what members pay for, Circle if you run structured discussions and events, and Skool for simpler groups built around a feed, courses and live calls. Podia has community spaces, group chats and direct messages too, so look at how your members use them before you switch.

Can I move my courses, email subscribers and memberships from Podia?

Yes, but expect some manual work. You can export customer records and download your course files, then check what your new platform can import. Subscriptions and email consent take the most care. Cancelling Podia stops subscriptions and they can't be restarted, so test the new platform before closing your account.
