Who built it
Christina Denkel founded Meilen Master. Under the name meilenweit reisen, Christina shares tips on traveling for less and flying business class with a system built on collecting miles.
The community brings that approach into one place, with the founder hosting the Monatlicher Live-Call and members comparing what works for them between sessions.
Collecting points and miles in Germany
Two programs sit at the center of points collecting in Germany. Payback, launched in 2000, is the loyalty card used at dm, Edeka, Netto, Aral and many online shops. Miles & More is the Lufthansa Group's frequent flyer program, and its miles can also be earned on the ground, through a co-branded credit card or by converting Payback points one to one, without boarding a plane.
The skill is in combining offers. Collectors wait for multiplier coupons, such as ten times the usual Payback points, use them on gift cards, pay with a card that earns miles on the same purchase, and move points into Miles & More when the conversion is worth it.
The usual goal is an award flight in business class. It is rarely free. Lufthansa adds taxes and carrier surcharges to award tickets, so experienced collectors compare what the same points would buy through other programs first, including Avios, the currency used by British Airways, Qatar Airways and Finnair.
